While some scars can be significantly reduced or nearly eliminated, results depend on scar type and depth. Treatments like CO2 laser resurfacing and microneedling with Procell can achieve 50-80% improvement. A combination approach typically yields the best results.
Acne scarring occurs when inflamed acne lesions damage the skin's collagen. The body's healing process can produce either too much or too little collagen, resulting in raised or depressed scars. Picking or squeezing acne increases the risk of scarring.
Chemical peels and photofacials (IPL) are effective at reducing the purple, red, and brown discoloration left by acne. These treatments target pigment in the skin and promote cell turnover for a more even complexion.
Microneedling with Procell is excellent for textural improvements, stimulating collagen production to fill in scars. Clearlift laser and fractional CO2 resurfacing are also highly effective for deeper scars and pore refinement.
