Evidence-Based Preventive Treatment for Chronic Migraine
If you have been living with migraines, you already know that describing them to someone who has not experienced one is almost impossible. The word 'headache' does not come close. We are talking about hours - sometimes days - lost. Plans cancelled. Lights off. A level of pain that reorganizes your entire life around trying to prevent the next one.
This is not normal. And it is not something you simply have to manage forever with painkillers alone.
Botulinum toxin - most commonly known by the brand names Botox or Xeomin - has become one of the most evidence-backed preventive treatments we have for chronic migraine. It works upstream - interrupting the pain signaling pathways before the migraine cycle has a chance to fully establish itself.

How Does It Work?
A migraine is not just 'a bad headache.' It is a neurological event - a cascade of electrical and chemical signals that, once triggered, can be very difficult to stop. The muscles and nerves in and around the scalp, neck, and temples play an active role in that cascade. Botulinum toxin, injected at very specific points across the head and neck, temporarily quiets those muscle-nerve signals. It does not change your brain chemistry in a systemic way. It acts locally - at the injection sites - to reduce the neurological noise that feeds the migraine cycle. For patients with chronic migraine (defined as 15 or more headache days per month, at least 8 of which have migraine features), this can translate into significantly fewer migraine days, reduced severity, and improved function.
How Does It Work?
Initial Assessment
Comprehensive evaluation of your migraine history, frequency, triggers, and prior treatments.
Treatment Protocol
10-40 specific injection sites across the forehead, temples, back of the head, neck, and upper shoulders. The pattern follows a standardized, evidence-based map.
Session Duration
Each session takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes. No sedation, no recovery time. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.
Repeat Cycle
Treatment is repeated every 12 weeks. The benefit tends to accumulate - many patients notice the most significant improvement after the second or third cycle.
