Excessive sweating, also called hyperhidrosis, occurs when you sweat more than is necessary to regulate your body temperature. It can occur in specific areas like underarms, hands, feet, or face and is often not triggered by heat or physical activity.
Botox® blocks nerve signals that trigger sweat glands in the treated areas. The injections target sweat glands in areas like the underarms, and results typically last several months.
The injections are generally well-tolerated using very fine needles. Mild discomfort may be experienced, but the procedure is quick and requires no downtime.
The effects typically last around 2 to 6 months. As the treatment wears off, you may schedule a follow-up session.
