Thrive Within™
And Your Hormones May Be at the Centre of It.
Annual programs from $1,995 + HST
The sleep that used to restore you. The weight that arrived without explanation. The sharpness that has quietly dulled at the edges. This is not weakness. It is biology: specifically, the hormonal transitions of perimenopause and menopause.

About This Program
The mood that shifts in ways you cannot always predict or explain.
Normal and how you want to feel are not always the same thing. We look at both, and build a plan with you.
The Science
What each hormone does in your body. These are its natural roles, not promises of what treatment will do.
Estrogen
Cognitive function, cardiovascular health, bone density, skin quality, mood stability, sexual health, metabolism
Progesterone
Sleep, a calming effect on the brain, uterine health
Testosterone
Energy, drive, muscle mass, bone density, libido, confidence, metabolic efficiency
Cortisol
Stress response, inflammation and the sleep-wake cycle; problems build when it stays high for long periods
Thyroid (T3/T4)
Metabolic rate, energy, weight management, cognitive clarity, temperature regulation
DHEA
An adrenal hormone that the body uses as a building block for testosterone and estrogen
What Hormone Therapy Can and Can't Do
Hormone therapy is a well-studied, guideline-supported treatment for menopause symptoms, and its effects reach beyond hot flashes.

Hot flashes and night sweats: Canadian and North American menopause guidelines recommend hormone therapy for bothersome symptoms, and for healthy women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause, the benefits generally outweigh the risks

Bone: estrogen therapy helps prevent the bone loss that speeds up after menopause

Vaginal and bladder comfort: low-dose vaginal estrogen is a well-established treatment for the dryness and urinary changes of menopause (genitourinary syndrome of menopause)

Sleep and mood: when night sweats ease, sleep often improves, and better sleep can help mood

Heart, brain and metabolism: hormone therapy is not prescribed to prevent heart disease or dementia, and its effects depend on age and timing; your physician explains what the research does and does not show for someone your age
A Note on Higher-Risk Situations
For women with a personal or family history of hormone-sensitive cancers (breast, ovarian, or uterine), or those who carry BRCA gene variants, the question of hormone therapy requires a careful, individualized assessment. If this is your situation, please bring your full history to your first consultation.
The Testing
Blood work is the foundation of your assessment, and it shows your hormone levels at one point in time. A functional medicine metabolite test, done at home, adds another layer: how your body makes and processes those hormones.
The Personalized Hormone Profile™ looks at the full pathway: how estrogen is being metabolized, how cortisol rises and falls across the day, and where the downstream metabolites are heading. Alongside your blood work and symptoms, it gives your physician more insight for personalizing your care, and it can be particularly useful in more complex cases.

Got Questions?
A result inside the reference range tells us a value isn't abnormal, but it can't tell us everything about how you feel. In this program, we read your blood work alongside your symptoms, your history and, where helpful, the Personalized Hormone Profile™, an at-home test that shows how your body makes and processes hormones. Together, these guide a plan built around you.
Every form of hormone therapy has benefits and risks, and they depend on your age, your health history and how long you use it. Before you start, your physician reviews these with you in detail, and your treatment is monitored throughout the program. Bioidentical hormones include Health Canada-approved products, such as estradiol gel or patches and micronized progesterone. If a compounded preparation is ever suggested, your physician explains how it differs. Our page on hormone therapy risks and benefits explains the current evidence.
A family history of breast cancer does not automatically rule out hormone therapy, but it calls for a careful, individualized assessment. Your physician reviews your personal and family history, your other risk factors and any genetic results, and talks through every option, including non-hormonal ones, so you can decide together.
Timing varies from person to person. Treatment is started carefully and adjusted over several months, and your physician reviews your progress at each follow-up.
Thrive! is private-pay and does not bill OHIP. Before testing, we tell you which lab tests carry a fee, so you know the costs before you begin. Keep your receipts, since program costs may be eligible as a medical expense; your accountant can advise. Extended health coverage varies by plan; we provide detailed receipts so you can check with your plan.
The program is designed to complement your primary care, not replace it. It adds dedicated hormone visits, personalized testing such as the Personalized Hormone Profile™ and scheduled follow-up. We encourage you to keep your family doctor or nurse practitioner for the rest of your health care.
